Opening night Galway double for Tony Martin
Trainer Tony Martin got off to a flyer at the Galway Festival on Monday evening when he saddled two of the first three home in the big opening day race as he won the two-mile amateur flat handicap with Edeymi.
Martin also had the third home with Redera in the valuable €70,000 race.
The trainer went on to complete a double when Dark Crusader won smartly in a 12-furlong handicap for jockey Fran Berry.
Former professional jockey Steven Clements, who reverted to amateur status and previously worked for the trainer, partnered Edeymi to a thrilling success for owners Gigginstown House Stud.
Edeymi hit the front at the furlong pole, but was all out in the closing stages as Domination closed to a head while Redera ran on late to take the third spot.
