Navan mourns young Polish mum
A deep sense of heartbreak has been evident in Navan this week following the killing of 31 year-old mother, Aleksandra Sarzynska, at her home in the town on Friday.
As two young children were left without a mother following the shocking incident, a fund has been set up by her friends in Navan to help her family, some of whom are travelling to Ireland this week.
Aleksandra’s death has stunned the local Polish community in particular. Originally from the city of Wroclaw, she was found strangled at her apartment at Bective House, Beaufort Place, on Friday evening.
The people of Navan, and particularly the local Polish community, have been rallying round in support of her family. Aleksandra, who worked at the Lidl supermarket on the Trim Road in Navan, has lived in the town for five years and had been excited at the prospect of getting an Irish passport this month. She was the mother of two children, a baby of six months and a three year-old.
Her body was discovered just after 7pm on Friday after an emergency call to gardai.
It is understood a neighbour heard banging on his front door and opened it to find a man bleeding profusely who asked him to call an ambulance.
The man was still receiving medical attention at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda on Tuesday of this week and gardai are waiting to question him.
