MDL Saturday round-up
There were plenty of goals and action in the MDL's Saturday soccer programme.
PREMIER RESERVE
Bellurgan 5, Quay Celtic 0
Bellurgan nothced up a 5-0 win over Quay Celtic in the Premier Reserve on Saturday with James McShane, Thomas Dullaghan, Emmet McGuigan, Richie McGee and Declan Sharkey on the mark.
Kingscourt 2, Ardee 1
Kingscourt Harps defeated Ardee 2-1 while Navan Cosmos lost 2-3 to Duleek with Jamie McCormack (two) and Mark Slattery netting for the winners. Franco Murray and Keith McGibney scored for Cosmos.
PREMIER A RESERVE
Carric 1, OMP 3
In the Premier A Reserve OMP recorded a 3-1 away win over Carrick with Keith Cross netting twice and Barry Mallon tagging on a third.
Navan Town 6, Drogheda Crescent 0
Navan Town defeated Drogheda-Marsh Crescent 6-0 with goals from Nathan O’Brien, Mickey Duke, who got two apiece, Cormac McHugh and Aidan Farrelly.
Longwood 2, Kentstown 2
Goals from Alan Doonan and Alan O’Brien earned Longwood a draw with Kentstown who had two goals from Stephen Cummins.
Boca Rovers 2, Square Utd 3
Boca thought they had this game in the bag as they led two nil with 20 minutes left from goals by Sean Hankey and Jason Galvin, But then Squares revival started and they managed to bag all three points with late goals from Aaron Kerley and a brace from Andy Rogers.
PREMIER B RESERVE
Black Bull 6, Torro Utd 1
Black Bull continued their pursuit of gold medals with a 6-1 win over Torro. Goals rained in from Declan Heeney, Tommy Martin, Tony Bolton, Gary Martin and a double from Bruce Sheppard to secure their win. Ronan Smiths goal for Torro was a little consolation.
Kells/Blackwater 3, Trim Town 1
Kells/Blackwater scured three points here against Trim Town with a double from Dean Mullen and a Brandon Browne goal. Mickey McManus pulled one back but Trim Town are still in search for their first win.
Muirhevnamor 4, Johnstown 1
Newcomers Muirhevnamor kept their 100 per cent record going with a win over Johnstown, Damien Bailey’s scored twice with Paul Mallon and Stephen Smith goals adding to the scoreline with Derek Killion getting one for Johnstown.
OMP Utd 3rds 2, Athboy Celtic 1
Omp picked up their second win of the season by defeating Athboy. Daryl Murray and Sean Tobin grabbed the goals for OMP. Ian Uzell got Athboys reply.
Slane Wanderers 3, Boyne Harps 1
Slane scooped three points at home with a double from Glen Kealey and a Craig Markey goal. Thomas Maguire got Boyne Harps back into it but it was too late.
PREMIER C RESERVE
Bohermeen Celtic 4. Park Celtic Summerhill 1
Gavin Brilly’s goal for the away side did nothing to stop the Bohermeen men going top today. Dermot Ball bagged a brace, Bernard Gargin added another before an own goal helped the home side to a four one win.
Rossin Rovers 0, Cloghertown Utd 2
New boys Cloghertown bagged their first points of the season with a 2-0 win over Rossin. Liam Lougheed opened the scoring for Clogherhead before Martin Fox secured all three points for Cloghertown.
Kilmessan 2, Lourdes Celtic 1
Kilmessan picked up their first win at home thanks to goals from Robert Maguire and Danny Maguire. Lourdes made them work hard for the win when John McGinn scored for the visitors but Kilmessan held on for three points.
Navan Town 2, Boyne Valley 5
Boyne Valley want to win this league title and their going about it the right way with a convincing win over Navan today. Luca Marsella grabbed a hat-trick, Joey Smith and Alan McGough each scored one apiece for the away side. Aaron Rennicks scored twice for Navan Town.
PREMIER B RESERVE
BMC Utd 1, BJD Celtic 0
BMC claimed their first win of the Season with a hard fought victory over bottom side BJD Celtic today. A Thomas Henry Penalty with 10 minutes left was enough to secure all the points.
Woodview Celtic 9, Kells/Blackwater 1
Woodview sent a clear message to every Club today, With a monster win against Kells/Blackwater. Conor Mackin and Daithi O’Connor each bagged a hat-trick with Francis Trimble helping himself to two before John Duffy finished off the route for the Dundalk men. Dan McManus got a small consolation for the away side.
Kingscourt Harps 3, Oldcastle Utd 1
Kingscourt kept up their fine start with another win today. This time it was Oldcastle who were the losing side despite Paul Colwell’s goal for the visitors. Harps goals came from Barry Reilly, Patrick Tinnelly and David Russell.
Division 4
Donacarney Celtic 1, Skryne/Tara 3
Skryne were in no mood to share the points today in this MDL Div 4 clash that was moved to Saturday as they swept aside Donacarney with John McGovern grabbing a hat-trick. Stephen McGinn hit one back for the Home side but the points went to Skryne.
