Na Fianna hit Summerhill for five
Na Fianna made a stunning start to this year's SFC against defending champions Summerhill at Pairc Tailteann on Friday night when they won by 5-12 to 2-12 following a thriller.
Shane Barrett fired Na Fianna's first goal in only 22 seconds and Dalton McDonagh added another goal in the fourth minute.
Summerhill settled and found the net midway though the opening half when Barry Dardis finished well and then Brian Ennis converted a penalty as the 'Hill took a 2-7 to 2-6 interval lead.
Na Fianna resumed smartly after the break as McDonagh completed his hat-trick of goals and Jamie Queeney also found the net to help his side to a 5-8 to 2-7 lead by the three-quarter stage.
Gaeil Colmcille enjoyed a 4-7 to 1-15 SFC victory over Dunshaughlin at Skryne.
In the other games last night Trim recorded a flattering 2-13 to 0-14 IFC victory over Drumbaragh.
In the JFC St Brigid’s managed a narrow 0-13 to 0-12 victory over neighbours Moylagh at Millbrook.
