Kilmessan powered their way to a fifth successive Meath senior camogie championship title with a match-winning performance against Trim at Longwood today where they won by 3-7 to 2-4 following an absorbing contest.

Kilmessan captain Ann Marie Dennehy urged the club’s hurlers to go and complete a double tomorrow when they tackle Longwood in the SHC decider.

The Longwood officials who were on duty at the venue maintained blank expressions although they will be hoping for a different result in tomorrow’s eagerly-awaited hurling decider in Navan.

Today in Longwood Kilmessan were ahead by 3-2 to 1-3 a the interval with the goals arriving from Kelly Gorman (two) and Aisling McLoughlin while Shona White found the net for Trim.

Trim added a second goal after the break through Christine Fagan, but Kilmessan were able to grind out the victory with a strong closing quarter.

Kelly Gorman took the ‘player-of-the-match’ award.
