Extra bite at A FL game
Meath GAA Co Board could be gettting their teeth into a red card report later this week following a A FL game last night in Cortown.
Hosts Cortown were in action against neighbours St Ultan's in what turned out to be a tight and entertaining game until the closing stages when, allegedly, referee Colm McManus issued a red card to a Cortown player for an alleged bite on an opponent.
It is understood that the alleged incident took place following a tussle for possession and it is also understood that the St Ultan's player later received medical attention.
The referee took charge of the Ladies Leinster Junior final last Saturday in Carlow and is one of the top officials in the county.
The report will be submitted to the Co Board this week.
It is understood that the incident was out of character with the sporting nature of the contest and spectators were taken by surprise when the details emerged.
