Eamon Wallace ready for action

Meath supporters going to Croke Park on Sunday for the Leinster SFC semi-final against Wexford will be hoping that Ratoath's Eamon Wallace can set the pace down the wing and claim some vital points following his championship debut against Wicklow.

Two weeks ago Eamon wallace made his championship debut for Meath with a swashbuckling display in the Leinster SFC quarter-final against Wicklow at Aughrim and has already sampled Croke Park ona  final day.

“There was hardly anyone there for the league final against Monaghan, but it will be different next Sunday and I can’t wait for the game to start,” he told the Meath Chronicle at the media night last Friday.

Last January Wallace was nominated as Meath Chronicle / Cusack Hotel Group young sportsperson of the year award.

“Last year I won the All-Ireland 100m and 200m titles, I represented Ireland in the Celtic games last year and I won the indoor 400m title this year at Athlone IT, that was a fantastic experience.
“I also represented the Irish Universities at Santry last month.

For now though, Wallace has his focus fixed firmly on the Leinster SFC with Meath and next Sunday’s assignment at Croke Park.

“Our target for this year is to win a Leinster title, if you want something you have to be prepared to put the work in, it’s as simple as that, it doesn’t matter whether it’s Gaelic games or athletics.

“I was on Hill 16 for the Meath game against Louth in 2010, there was good crack that day, it would be nice to experience that as a player,” he concluded.
