Big entry for Navan road race

There was a good turn out for the Navan 6k Road Race from Claremont Stadium this evening with Mayor of Navan Caoimhe Ní Shluáin in attendance at the finish line.

An estimated 400 runners participated in the race for the Simon Cumbers and Paddy Hyland Memorial Trophies for men and women respectively.

The race is proving hugely popular on the local calendar and athletes froma  wide range of Meath clubs were present as the spectators started to converge on the venue from 7pm for the 8pm start.

Popular Navan AC offial Tom Clinton and stalwart Claremont Stadium Club official Michael Smith got the runners on their way from the usual starting point on the Commons Road.

The route followed a circuit out towards Robinstown and turning left towards Teach na Teamhrach with another left turn in the main Navan - Trim road and around by the old Beechmount venue down to Commons Road Cars and back to the finish.
