The regretted death of Mrs Margaret Mary (Peg) Sherlock, Drumbaragh, Kells, occurred, following a sudden illness, at Dublin"s Beaumont Hospital, causing great shock and sadness to her family and friends. The deceased was daughter of William and Elizabeth Brady of Edenmore, Dromard, Co Longford. She qualified in nursing at St Loman"s Hospital in Mullingar, and worked there for 13 years, her last as night superintendent. Although very involved in the nurses" union, her primary concern was always the proper care and treatment of patients. Even 50 years on, she is fondly remembered by former colleagues and patients. Deceased married Frank Sherlock in 1959, and the first of their seven children was born in 1960. They set up home and established a dairy farm at Crossakiel, Kells, where they also started commercial egg and turkey production. There are numerous stories of her hospitality to the many youngsters who came to pluck turkeys every Christmas. Mrs Sherlock was a long-standing member of the Ballinlough National School board, and was also the Bishop"s nominee on the Catholic Primary Schools Management Association, where she was highly regarded. A keen bridge player, she was a member of the Kells, Oldcastle, and Virginia Clubs where she made many lifelong friends. She was also an active and committed member of Fine Gael, although this never impeded the close friendships she enjoyed across the political divide. Once her family had grown up and left home, the Sherlocks retired to nearby Drumbaragh where they built a house capable of accomodating their continually expanding family, notably every Christmas. Deceased will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and mother-in-law, and an adored and adoring grandmother. She was predeceased by her sisters, Liz and Kathleen, and by her brothers, Fr Peter, Mel, and Francie. Mrs Sherlock is survived by her husband, Frank; family, Marina, Rita, Bernie, Peter, Liam, Ursula and Brian and their spouses; 27 grandchildren; sister, Eileen, and brother, Kevin. The funeral took place in Ballinlough. ___________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ ALFIE CLUSKER, Navan Great sadness was aroused throughout Navan following news of the death last week of Mr Alfie Clusker of Brews Hill.
