Simonstown sink O'Mahonys

Simonstown Gaels produced an excellent performance last night against Navan O'Mahonys to advance to the last four of MFC. The quarter-final tie played at Brews Hill turned out to be a high-scoring encounter with Simonstown advancing to the semi-final after recording a 4-7 to 2-10 victory over their town rivals. Goals from Chris O'Neill, Donagh Fitzpatrick and Robbie Burlingham boosted them to a 3-5 to 1-3 interval lead. Nathan O'Brien added a fourth goal via the penalty spot in the 39th minute but that proved to be the visitors last score of the match. O'Mahonys produced a late rally but Ned Kearney's charges displayed commendable character to hold out for a fully deserved win. Simonstown now await the winners of Donaghmore/Ashbourne and Ratoath in the semi-final. Some of today's u-15 FL finals have been moved to different venues. The under-15 Div 7 final between Kilbride and Clonard that was scheduled for Trim will now be played in Bohermeen at 2pm. The u-15 Div 2 final between St Vincent's/ Curraha and Navan O'Mahonys that was scheduled for Trim will also be played in Bohermeen at 3.30..
