Hi Ho Silver lining for Meade!

Noel Meade may have won numerous National Hunt trainers' titles, but he may have a very useful flat horse in his yard after Silverhand won another big race on the level at The Curragh on Sunday. Silverhand may not have won over hurdles since making a winning debut at Punchestown in 2007, but after winning at Tramore in August has made progress and on Sunday won a Listed race at the Kildare track. Meade's horse won the September Handicap at the same track last month and was only narrowly beaten in the Irish Cesarewitch before Sunday's success which moved champion jockey Pat Smullen on to the 80-winner mark. "He seems to be enjoying it more on the flat than over jumps and I may go to England towards the end of the season because he is in great heart and if there is a race I would like to go for it," stated the trainer who is currently in a rich vein of form. Meade was also in the winners' enclosure at Limerick when Paul Carberry guided Oscar Looby to victory in a beginners' chase and the double gave Meade his ninth winner in nine days. Gordon Elliott was also on the mark with The Rocking Dock which gave Dunshaughlin teenager Keith Donoghue his fourth winner on the track. Meade won a maiden hurdle with Darceys Dancer at Fairyhouse on Saturday where the Tom McCourt-trained Not To Know recorded his first win in over two years when landing a handicap hurdle. Drumree jockey Barry Geraghty won a beginners' chase with Lucky Wish which had finished third in the Galway Hurdle earlier this year. Navan jockey Andrew Thornton made the trip to Tramore on Thursday worthwhile when he guided Hatton's Wood to victory in a handicap chase for Wexford trainer Philip Redmond which will re-appear at Downpatrick shortly. Ashbourne jockey Andrew Lynch was successful in a maiden hurdle with the Henry De Bromhead-trained Royal Choice landed the www.tramore-racecourse.com Maiden Hurdle at Tramore today, making all to win easily under Andrew Lynch. Navan owner and businessman Eamonn Duignan is getting a good turn out of his horses since they moved to Willie Mullins and his Tawaagg comfortably landed a maiden under Paul Townend. At Navan on Wednesday, apprentice Timmy Carroll recorded his first victory under rules when guiding Donnas Palm to victory for Meade in a maiden race on the flat where the Ger Lyons-trained Bogie sprung a 25/1 surprise in a maiden event. Dotada was an impressive winner of the opening apprentice handicap for Stamullen-based Peter Casey. Meade recorded a double at Tipperary on Tuesday of last week when Felmenscall, which is owned by his neighbour Richard Heaney, won the bumper for Nina Carberry while Hotel Hilamar won a beginners' chase for Paul Carberry. Lyons took the feature race at Dundalk on Friday when Mister Tee won the Star Appeal Stakes Listed Race. Eddie Lynam was also on the mark with Boo Boo Bear.
