Rape Crisis Centre offering telephone counselling

Despite severe financial pressures, counselling for rape and sexual abuse victims will continue by phone during the Covid-19 pandemic, according to Rape Crisis North East, which covers Meath.

Despite having to close its centres, because ofthe pandemic, it will continue its Counselling Services to existing and new clients by telephone.

The health and safety of our clients and staff is of the utmost importance to us and therefore we have put measures in place to ensure continued support.”

The service has also seen a hugedrop in funding as the pandermic has caused all fund raising activity come to a halt and they are appleaing to the public for donations.

The services Freephone Confidential Helpline number 1800 21 21 22 will remain open Mondays to Friday from 10am to 4pm for those who need to access crisis counselling and support. You can contact the National 24-Hour Helpline Number 1800 77 88 88 outside those helpline hours.

If you are an existing client your therapist will be in contact with you to arrange your counselling appointments over the phone. If you require further information, email manager@rcne.ie.

If you are a new client and you would like to arrange an appointment email manager@rcne.ie or phone 1800 21 21 22, leave a message and your phone number and they will get back to you as soon as possible.

Unfortunately the Covid-19 crisis is severely affecting our income. We are unable to hold any public fundraising events to help support the services of our centre. If you have the capacity to support us financially, we would be truly grateful to you,” said a spokesperson.
