His many friends and acquaintances throughout Trim and beyond were shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death at his residence last week of Mr Karl Hatton, Avondale,Trim. Aged 48, Mr Hatton was a son of the late Des and Gus Hatton and grew up in Emmet Street, Trim. He was an experienced and popular bar manager who worked in a number of premises, including the former Beechmount Hotel in Navan in the late 1980s and Franzini O’Brien’s restaurant in Trim, as well as in other posts within the leisure industry. He most recently worked at Knightsbrook Golf Club in Trim. He was an accomplished sportsman and played hurling with Trim in his younger days, but also excelled at basketball, tennis and golf. Deceased is survived by his brothers, Junior, Frank and Aiden; sisters, Helena and Barbara; nephews, nieces, aunts, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and other relatives. There was a very large and representative attendance of mourners at both the removal of his remains and the funeral from St Patrick’s Church, Trim, to St Loman’s Cemetery, Trim, on Saturday, bearing eloquent testimony to the esteem in which Mr Hatton was held by a very wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Chief concelebrant of the funeral Mass was Fr Pat Malone, a cousin of the deceased, assisted by Fr Mark Mohan, CC, Trim. ____________________________________________________________ Tony Farrell, Athboy THE regretted death occurred at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan on 10th October last of Mr Tony Farrell, Castlelawns, Athboy. He was aged 70, and passed away at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan. Deceased attended Rathmore National School and Athboy Vocational School before starting his working career in Dublin. He then moved to London where he was involved in the construction business. With their family reared, their great love of Ireland brought Tony and Mary home, initially to Balbriggan before moving to Athboy in 2002. Mr Farrell took up a position as caretaker at Rathmore National School, and he was an extremely popular, conscientious and skilled worker during his time as a member of the staff. Throughout his life, deceased was dedicated to his family and was always available to give guidance and advice whenever it was required. His other great passion was sport, especially the GAA and he was an avid follower of the local and county teams. The huge crowd attending his funeral and the kind words spoken about him were a fitting testament to someone who could justifiably be called one of life’s true gentlemen. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters and sons; grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Peter and John (London); Larry (Dublin), Tom (Navan) and Vincent (Moyaugher, Athboy); sisters, May Rogers (Boyerstown, Navan), Ann King and Angela Priest (Moyaugher); brother-in-law; sisters-in-law; relatives and a large circle of friends. The funeral took place on Wednesday 13th October from his home to St Lawrence’s Church, Rathmore followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. _____________________________________________________________ Kathleen Molloy, Navan MRS Kathleen Molloy, Brews Hill, Navan who died on 2nd October last, aged 95, at Millbury Nursing Home, Navan was known as 'Mother Molloy’ to her many customers in the grocery and vintner’s business on Bridge Street. Mrs Molloy was a very active person who continued her husband’s business after his death in 1974. She was special to her customers whose support and friendship was greatly appreciated when she was in business and throughout her retirement. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother whose family were always at the centre of her life. She was a daily Mass goer and her faith gave great meaning to her life. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Lawlor, Hayestown, Sr Frances Molloy, Dublin, Maura Geoghegan, Kilcarn Heights; son-in-law Cecil, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, relatives and friends. The removal of remains took place to St Mary’s Church, Navan on Monday 4th October, where her funeral Mass was celebrated on 5th October, and the interment took place to St Mary’s Cemetery. ____________________________________________________________ Keith Andrews, Ashbourne THE death at St James Hospital, Dublin of Keith Andrews, Castle Close, Ashbourne on 12th October last, was deeply regretted by his family and a wide circle of friends. He passed away at St James Hospital, Dublin. Mr Andrews, who was aged just 21, was a native of Ashbourne and son of Leo and Margaret. He was a great motor sport fan but was also an enthusiastic banjo player with a great love of traditional music. He played at all the local trad sessions. He is survived by his parents, and also by his brother, Mark, Ratoath, sisters, Edel Flood, Newpark, The Ward, Co Dublin, Tarina, Ashbourne; grandmother Kitty Kavanagh, and nephews Sean, Tiernan and Josh. The funeral took place on 15th October from the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ashbourne, to St Declan’s Cemetery, Ashbourne.
