The Gordon Elliott-trained Samcro won the opener at Cheltenham today.

Elliott continues winning Festival form

Gordon Elliott took the opening two races on Day Three of the Cheltenham Festival with Samcro and Sire Du Berlais to take his overall tally to 30.

Samcro got the better of Melon and Faugheen in the Marsh Novices’ Chase in what turned into a epic battle to the line with Davy Russell adding another winner to his tally.

Elliott's second winner today, the JP McManus-owned Sire Du Berlais, gave Barry Geraghty another success as he continues to lead the  way in the Holland Cooper Leading Jockey Award for the Ruby Walsh Trophy.

The win with Sire Du Berlais was a 42nd Festival winner for the Drumree man as he got the better of another Elliott runner, The Storyteller in second and the Noel Meade-trained Tout Est Permis in third for Gigginstown House Stud.
