ELECTION 2020: Moore on high horse! Campaign launch in Trim on Saturday
Cllr Ronan Moore, the Social Democrats general election candidate for Meath West is launching his campaign on Saturday 18th January at 11am at the High Horse pub, Market Street, Trim.
Cllr Moore says he will outline his vision for a future where compassion is at the heart of our decisions for Ireland.
Cllr Moore says: “I am running for election to the Dáil as I strongly feel our country needs real change for the future, and I know I can help deliver that change. We have a government in place which has allowed the housing and homelessness crisis to spiral out of control over the last decade. Our health system is in need of serious reform as laid out under the Sláintecare model."
He continues: "The Social Democrats believe that no matter where you live in Ireland, your age or occupation, you are entitled to the same level of care and support from our public services.
Ireland has always had compassion for others at the centre of who we are, but this hasn’t always been reflected in our political decisions, many of which have prioritised economic gain over the well-being of our people.
"I have deep roots in rural Westmeath, where my parents come from; and grew up in Summerhill and Trim so I feel passionately about our constituency. I now live in Trim with my wife and three young children, and teach English and History in St Patrick’s Classical School in Navan. Previously, I spent two years in Nigeria as a development worker and obtained a Masters in Sustainable Development.”
Cllr Moore adds: “I was elected as a councillor for Trim and South Meath District in May 2019, which I find very interesting and enjoyable. I have been working hard to push forward initiatives, in the areas of climate, disability and community over the past few months and am already seeing the results of these efforts. There is so much more that can be done at national level and it would be a great honour to serve the people of Meath West. I am currently chairperson for Meath Comhairle na nÓg and Trim Family Resource Centre, as well as a committee member with Enfield Development Group and Trim Athletics Club. The strength of our communities and volunteers is a constant source of pride for me.”
This is a public event with refreshments served.
