Trim make sure second time around

Displaying plenty of sharpness and skill Trim marched to a fully merited 1-17 to 1-11 victory over Kildalkey in the MHC final replay at Pairc Tailteann today.

A big crowd showed up for this game and they were served up another full-blooded encounter although not as thrilling as the drawn game.

However, that was a classic game and difficult to repeat. Today's clash also had plenty of entertainment with Trim showing a sharpter cutting edge in front of the post to claim their first title since 2010.

Peter Farrell and Mikey Cullen were particularly influential for the team in red. Between them they contributed 1-11 to the winning tally. Cullen bagged his team's only goal and four points from play while Farrell slotted over seven points, five from frees.

Brian Dowling also fired over four points for the winners with Gavin Griffith and Sean Thornton others to split the posts.

Kildalkey were already facing an uphill task at the interval when they trailed 1-14 to 1-11 with Evan Fitzgerald grabbing their goal. 

Nicholas Potterton again ended up their chief marksman with eight points, seven from frees however they were unable to take the lead at any stage made a number of unforced errors that proved costly. 

Trim, instead marched on to a victory with the cup brought back to the club much to the delight of their big band of supporters.
