Two men remanded in custody over €2.5m cannabis seizure
A 58 year old man appeared in custody at Trim District Court today charged with alleged unlawful possession of drugs valued at €2.5m in Ashbourne on Tuesday last.
He was Alan Lancaster of New Street Dublin. Evidence of arrest was given by Garda Val Russell. The accused who is unemployed was remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison to appear again in court on 2nd November.
Konrad Sikorski aged 41 of no fixed address was charged with alleged possession of a false instrument on the same date and same place. He was also remanded in custody to the same prison to appear on same date.
Gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau supported by the Special Crime Task Force seized cannabis herb with an estimated value of €2.5 million and arrested three males during an operation in Meath on Tuesday.
The discovery was made when detectives searched a number of vehicles in the Ashbourne Manufacturing Park shortly after 3pm. Three males aged 58, 41 & 35 were arrested as part of the investigation.
The third man was released from custody and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
