Lorna Fowler smiling after Thurles winner
Rahinstown trainer Lorna Fowler had plenty to smile about today at Thurles when Politesse won the concluding mares' bumper.
Second at the Dublin Racing Festival Grade 2 Coolmore NH Sires Irish EBF Mares Flat Race at Leopardstwon last time out, the six-year-old got the verdict today from the Keith Clarke-trained Watergate Lily.
The pressure was a bit more intense today as the winner was a well backed 4/5 favouritein from15/8 this morning.
Jockey Tom Hamilton went to the front four furlongs out and Politesse crusied down the straight for a five-length victory.
"She came out of Leopardstown really well and this was the obvious race to go for, she is very exciting," said the trainer.
"My husband (Harry Fowler) bred her with Alex Davies and is now owned in partnership with Pete Davies.
"We'll look at all the serious bumper options now, but she won't go to Cheltenham," she added.
