St Michael's two from two
St Michael's moved aep closer to a place in the last four of the Corn na Boinne with a 1-11 to 0-7 second round win against Drumbaragh tonight in Carlanstown.
The windswept venue attracted a good-sized crowd for what was a local derby between the unbeaten teams from Group C after last week's first round ties.
And hosts St Michael's did enough in the second-half to take the points tonight in what was a good and open game of football.
The first-half was a slow-burner with St Michael's shading the exchanges by 0-4 to 0-3.
Ciaran Lynch (three frees) and goalkeeper Shane McCormack (one free) gave them the edge as Drumbaragh played the better football, but kicked too many wides.

Wind-assisted St Michael's upped the tempo after the break and early points form Shane McDonnell and McCormackk (free) were followed by a well-worked goal from McCormack.
That gave the hosts a 1-6 to 0-3 advantage by the 40th minute and they were relatively comfortable for the remainder as David Lynch and Ciaran Lynch sent over two points each and McDonnell also contributed.
Drumbaragh substitiute Liam Ward claimed three points Colm Carry converted a free.
