Recent deaths 13-03-10
It is with deep regret that we record the death of Mr Paddy Ayres, Ballasport, Hill of Down, which occurred on 28th Decmber last at Tullamore Hospital, following a short illness, aged 54. Mr Ayres was a talented hurler who won numerous medals for Killyon Hurling Club at all levels. He also enjoyed golf. Deceased is survived by his wife, Julie; sons, Patrick and Kevin; daughters, Joanne and Christine; grandchildren, Shauna and Sophie; parents, Mick and Chris; brothers, Martin, Michael, Willie, Gerry, Robert, David and Joseph; sisters, Margaret and Catherine; daughter-in-law; son-in-law; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nephews; nieces; aunts; uncles and a large circle of friends. The remains were removed to St Camillus Centre, Killucan, followed by a removal to the Church of the Assumption, Killyon, where there were large attendances. A guard of honour was provided by past and present members of Killyon Hurling Club. Fr Pat Kearney, PP, officiated at the Funeral Mass and graveside, where a eulogy was delivered by Kit Mitchell, chairman, Killyon GAA. _____________________________________________________________ Cathleen Reynolds, Clonard The regretted death occurred at her home on 7th February last of Mrs Cathleen (Kitty) Reynolds (nee Cahill), Meadow View, Clonard. Mrs Reynolds (63) was a native of Corbetstown, Castlejordan, and worked for many years for the priests of Ballinabrackey. She was a great baker and was well-known for her wedding cakes and pastries. Deceased is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Joanne; son, Noel; brothers, Pat and Johnny; sisters, Mary, Rosie and Dinah; grandchildren, Katie and Jack; son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunt and other relatives, as well as her lifelong friend, Mary Haughton. Mrs Reynolds' remains were removed to St Mary's Church, Kinnegad, and the funeral took place after requiem Mass there to St Finian's Cemetery, Clonard. _____________________________________________________________ Sandra Egan O'Brien, Navan Widespread sorrow was caused by the death of Mrs Sandra Egan O'Brien, The Cedars, Beaufort Place, Navan. Aged 39, she passed away in the care of her family at her parent's home at Donaghmore, Navan, following a short illness, on 16th February last. Mrs O'Brien was a native of Donaghmore, and worked as a medical administrator at the Children's University Hospital, Temple Street, Dublin. She is survived by her husband, John O'Brien; parents, Michael and Betty Egan; brothers, David and Niall Egan, Dublin; sister, Revina McMahon, Navan; sister-in-law, Sharon Egan; brother-in-law, Byron McMahon; nephews, Zach and Caleb Egan, Dublin; grandmother, Esther Egan, Navan; parents-in-law, Michael and Dietgard O'Brien, Trim Road, Navan; uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends. The funeral took place from St Oliver's Church, Navan, to Cannistown Cemetery. _____________________________________________________________ Mollie Smith, Killeen The death occurred yesterday (Tuesday) of Mrs Mollie Smith, Killeen, Dunshaughlin, at Heatherfield Nursing Home, aged 93, following a short illness. Mrs Smith, an honorary president of Dunsany GFC, was a member of the Flynn family, Oxpark, Dunsany. She is survived by her sons, Michael, Francis, David, Noel and Dermot; daughters, Vera Mulroy and Carmel McMahon; daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren; brother, Michael Flynn; sister, Patsy Teeling; extended family, relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements had not been finalised at the time of going to press.
