On-screen acting workshop in Navan for film and TV

An exciting but intensive 'Acting for Film and Television Training Course" will be held in the Newgrange Hotel, Navan on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 29th, 30th and 31st July. The course is being given by the Irish Film Actors Workshop and will run from 7pm to 11pm each evening. There are just 10 places available on this course for anyone over 16 (no upper age, and over 30s especially welcome) who is interested in learning to act for camera and finding out how to get acting work in television dramas, TV commercials and feature films. No previous acting experience is necessary, only enthusiasm and a willingness to plunge in and take part on-camera. It"s a superb chance to learn the essentials of screen acting such as learning how best to audition for commercials, cold-read for feature films, hit your marks, work in close-up, medium shot and long shot, use of props, shoot scenes, get an agent, find out what a proper acting headshot is like, network with castings directors, compile a show reel, get called to auditions and land the part when you get there The Irish Film Actors Workshop continues to set the professional standard in Ireland for screen acting training. It has given hundreds of actors the opportunity to work in a safe, relaxed environment, to find their feet and develop their self confidence in front of the camera. Part audition technique, part preparation for how very fast indeed TV schedules have become, the emphasis is on shooting scenes and exploring techniques of acting in 'real" environments. This practical course is led by Shane Munro, film producer and actors agent who is better known for his roles in many television ads and who was also executive producer on the award winning film 'To Catch A Crow", Best Film at the BBC International Film Festival in London and also screened at the Cannes Film Festival. 'The course will give attendees an exciting insight into what it takes to get acting work in film and television and help them gain a firm grasp of the skills required to book work from auditions by taking them through the processes in-front-of-camera,' Munro says. 'We"re here to show people how creative and fun this all is and to shed some light on the many common myths associated with the industry.' From previous courses under the direction of Munro, many past participants have landed lead roles in TV series, award winning feature films, and commercials such as US Emmy Award winning TV drama series 'Touched by an Angel" (CBS), BAFTA winning teen-drama series 'Custers Last Stand Up" (BBC/RTE), 'The Clinic", 'Fair City", 'Pure Mule", 'Fear an Phoist", 'Kings", 'Rough Diamond", 'Hollyoaks" and the BAFTA nominated CH4 series 'School Ties", feature films like 'Magdalene Sisters", Disney"s 'Reign of Fire", Neil Jordan"s 'Breakfast On Pluto", 'Garage", LA feature film 'Strength and Honour" with Vinnie Jones, and filming this summer 'A Shine of Rainbows", with Aidan Quinn, as well as numerous TV adverts, including the three teenagers on the Johnny Logan McDonalds ad. While this practical course is quite intensive, its aim is to develop the skills of those taking part in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. This could be ideal opening for someone who has done stage but who has never had an opportunity to work on-screen but would love to receive professional guidance.
