Big game for Navan RFC on Sunday

There will be another big challenge for Navan RFC this Sunday at Balreask Old when the club's successful u-20 team welcome Dublin University 1 Trinity for the first round of the McCorry Cup with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.

This will be the Trinity first team that won the Premier 1 League last weekend.

The game is effectively the clash of the Premier 1 and Premier 2 winners following the success of Navan when they claimed that title in great style two weeks ago at Balreask Old.

Head coach Pat Kenny told the Meath Chronicle after that win: “The players really bought into the idea of a u-20 team and further down the line it will be the club that will benefit.

“The key for us now is to make it attractive not just for our own lads, but for young lads in the area, just to let them know that there are more options for them apart from u-20 teams in Dublin, that we are a viable option.”

The Navan team and subs for that victory was Conor Nash, Sean Vodden, Emmett Banahan, Harry Hester, Ian Rickard, Christian Byrne, Cillian Farrell, Jake Deane, Oisin Lavin-Kelly, Kevin Lynch, Paul Rickard, Ryan Murrells, Liam Thornton, Ronan Meegan, Colm Carpenter, Alex McGoey, Evan Burke, Colm Treacy, Cathal Duffy, Conor Hand, Niall McGrane, Ben McEntaggart.

BACKROOM TEAM

The backroom team consists of Scott Ennis (programme director), Karen Smyth (administrator), Eoin King (strength & conditioning), Michael Aughey (video analysis) and Emma Condren (physio).
