Alice McConnell, Carlanstown

The recent death of Alice (Ada) McConnell of Castletown Moore, Carlanstown caused great sadness over a wide area.

Mrs McConnell, who was originally a member of the Thornton family of Kingscourt, died at the home of her daughter, Bernie Swan at Woodview, Trim Road, Navan, at the age of 86.

She was predeceased by her husband, Johnnie McConnell, in March 1993.

She is survived by her sons, Joe Thornton, Dunboyne, Eamonn Thornton, Wales, James McConnell, Carlanstown, John McConnell, Carlanstown, Noel McConnell, Virginia; daughters, Bernie Swan, Navan, Caroline Lynch, Carlanstown, Marie Sheppard, Oristown; sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her remains were removed to St Mary’s Church, Kilbeg and her funeral took place to St Michael’s Cemetery, Staholmog.

She will be sadly missed by family, friends and neighbours.

A months mind mass will take place in St Mary’s Church, Kilbeg at 7pm on 24th August.

Brigid Veronica Dennison, Kells

There was great sadness over a wide area at the recent death of Brigid Veronica (Vera) Dennison of Rockfield Road, Kells, aged 84, at Heatherfield Nursing Home, Dunshaughlin.

A member of the Donnelly family from Patrick Street, Mullingar, she was married to George Joseph Dennison, retired Garda Superintendent, Kells.

Prior to her marriage in September 1951, she was a telephonist with the former Department of Posts and Telegraphs and worked in Mullingar, Sligo, Drogheda, Navan, Kells, Portlaoise and Abbeyleix.

She was a member of the Irish Countrywoman’s Association and of Headfort Bridge Club, Kells.

Deceased is survived by her husband, George; sons, Gabriel, Bray, Vivian, Dublin, Paul, California and Raymond, Trim, daughters, Martina, Maynooth, Colette, Portlaoise, and brothers, Bernard, Longford and Anthony, Dublin.

Her remains were removed from Heatherfield Nursing Home to her home at Rockfield Road, Kells on 30th July, and removed to St Colmcille’s Church, Kells, the following day.

The funeral mass on 1st August was celebrated by Fr John Byrne, PP, Kells, assisted by Fr Oliver Skelly, PP, Coole, and she was buried in Walshestown Cemetery, Mullingar. Funeral rites at the graveside were performed by Fr Michael Gilmartin, Mullingar.

Michael Keegan, Trim and England

The regretted death occurred of Michael Keegan, Gravesend, Kent, England, on 16th July last at Gravesend.

A native of Carberstown, Trim, Mr Keegan (82) was a son of the late John and Ann Keegan.

Deceased is survived by his wife, Iris Keegan; son, Mark Keegan; daughter, Deborah Keegan, all England; brothers, Joseph, Desmond, Frankie and Tom Keegan; and sister, Kitty Beirne.

Funeral took place at St John’s Roman Catholic Church, Gravesend, on Monday, 5th August.

Kitty Sue Ryan, Kells and USA

The death has occurred in the United States, following a long illness, of Kitty Sue Ryan (nee Fitzsimons), who was a native of Suffolk Street, Kells.

Her death is deeply regretted by her loving family in New Jersey, Kells, and surounding areas.

A Mass of Remembrance was held in Mullaghea Church, Kells, led by her brother, Fr Willie Fitzsimons; her cousin, Fr Mark English and Fr John Byrne. This mass was attended by family and friends, near and far.
