Facile victory for Duleek

It was all too easy for Duleek as they fired five past Square in this Meath & District Premier League encounter on Sunday. James Guilfoyle and Paddy Coates combined to create an opening for Ian Devine for the opener. Guilfoyle set up Coates who tagged on a second and a Guilfoyle corner was headed home by Robbie Carr to give Duleek a 3-1 lead at the break. Square missed a penalty before getting a goal back and just before the interval David Andrews made a fine save from a Square free. It got worse for the home side in the second-half when they conceded an own goal and Craig Brodigan headed home a fifth late on. Guilfoyle, Stephen Corcoran and Brian Murphey were in excellent form for the winners. Navan Town 1 Carrick 4 Navan Town suffered a third defeat when they conceded four goals against Carrick at the MDL on Sunday. The home side started brightly with Adrian Dowdall and Keith Russell going close. Defensive errors however, proved costly and they trailed 0-3 at the break. Kevin Dunphy did well to create a chance for Dowdall who claimed Navan Town"s only goal before Carrick added a fourth. DIVISION 1 Longwood 4 Newtown 0 Longwood earned their second home win of the season when they coasted past Newtown on Sunday. An Ian Keenan goal gave Longwood the lead at the interval, but they had to rely on a penalty save from Alan Holton to prevent Newtown from equalising. Rory Maguire doubled the lead with a shot from a difficult angle on the hour mark, Colm Harte added a third with a great long range effort and Philly Comerford compelted the scoring with a tap in. Harte, Keenan and Ciaran Greene were particularly prominent for Longwood. Nine of their players had lined out in GAA matches on Saturday evening. Bellurgan 1 Robinstown 2 Dean Brennan slotted home a late goal to give Robinstown a dramatic winner on Sunday. A defensive mix up resulted in Robinstown conceding a penalty early on which Bellurgan converted. Shortly before the break Denis Friel equalised with a header from a Paul Curtin free. Ronan Cooke spurned a good chance for Robinstown after good work by Thomas Conaty. With minutes left Paul Garry took a corner and Brennan grabbed the dramatic winner.
