Lost Brothers join Picnic line-up
The Lost Brothers have been added to the line-up for the Electric Picnic this year. Navan's Oisin Leech and Mark McCausland from Omagh, return to Electric Picnic from Nashville where they have been working on new songs with Brendan Benson. Their debut album, 'Trails of the Lonely', won them heaps of praise from the likes of NME, The Irish Times, Word magazine and fans in likes of Richard Hawley, The Handsome Family, The Swell Season, Micah P Hinson, Richmond Fontaine and Mountain Man among others. The Lost Brothers will be showcasing the fruits of their labours with Mr Benson at Stradbally this September. They'll be joining The Rapture, Warpaint, James Blake, James Vincent McMorrow, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Unthanks, John Grant, Gemma Hayes, The Japanese Popstars and Funeral Suits. The Rapture conquered indie dance floors with their 'House of Jealous Lovers' and 'Whoo! Alright, Yeah Uh Huh' and now 'In the Grace of Your Love', their new album due out in September is destined to whip up another dancing frenzy. The all female psych-rock quartet from La Warpaint have had critics gushing and been featured on practically every new music list in the last year, as well as being nominated for BBC Sound of 2011. High praise has been heaped on producer James Blake following the release of his debut album earlier this year. The eponymous debut has earned him the runner up spot in both BBC Sound of 2011 and Brit Critics Choice Award 2011. The sublime soundscapes, fuzzed vocal loop, dreamy dubstep, R'n'B samples and unique blips and beeps from the record translate so magically live. It has been a phenomenal 12 months for Dublin's' James Vincent McMorrow. Abroad he has been signed by Vagrant Records in America and Believe in Europe while at home his debut album, 'Early in the Morning', has gone gold. Unleashing their psychedelic folk rock on Ireland for the very first time, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, are not your average band. Look forward to this LA band's 10 strong members show with lead singers Alex Ebert and Castrinos trade vocals amid a warm, shambling concoction of keyboards, percussion, guitars, accordion, and trumpet. Brooklyn and Philadelphia based, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah eponymous debut album in 2005 garnered the band not only some incredible reviews and a Best New Music nod from Pitchfork and Rolling Stone declaring them Hot New Band. Earning a place on The Guardian's Best Albums of the Decade list and being nominated for the Mercury Prize has afforded The Unthanks an eclectic league of fans including Radiohead, Elvis Costello, Ewan McGregor and Nick Hornby. These folk music purveyors (formally known as Rachel Unthank and the Winterset) continue to put their unique stamp on the tradition of English folk music by adding blues, jazz and classical music. John Grant, former singer/songwriter with Bella Union cult favourites The Czars, brings his extraordinary debut solo album which he made with Midlake to Stradbally. Mojo declared Queen of Denmark their album of the year and was the Guardians top 10 albums of 2010. Gemma Hayes' much anticipated fourth studio album, Let it Break, witnesses an evolution of Gemma's unique style of music, combining prog rock, folk and electronica. Her debut LP, Night on My Side, received much critical acclaim from all corners, garnering a UK Mercury Prize nomination and earning her an award as Ireland's best female artist.
