Conor Tormey to make return to council
Ashbourne auctioneer Conor Tormey looks set for a return to Meath County council – for six months at least.
The former council chairman, and former chairman of Meath GAA County Board was selected at a Fianna Fail convention in Ashbourne last night, where he defeated former Meath footballer, Joe Sheridan, in a vote.
The seat became vacant following the resignation of Cllr Sean Smith for family reasons, and Mr Tormey is set to be co-opted at Meath County Council's meeting on Monday.
Cllr Tormey was a member of Meath County Council from 1991 and was chairperson in 2000. He lost his seat in 2004, and was chairman of the GAA county board from 2011 to 2016.
