Damien English (Fine Gael)

Damien English, TD, was first elected to Dáil Eireann in 2002. He is currently Deputy Finance Spokesperson for the party, working alongside TDs Michael Noonan, Brian Hayes and Senator Liam Twomey. A native of Bohermeen, Deputy English has been a devoted community activist since entering politics. He has also played a pivotal role in the Save Navan Hospital campaign, which has been supported by Fine Gael Health Spokesperson, Dr James Reilly. He says Fine Gael is committed to the cause of Our Lady's Hospital and the need for keeping services there until the new regional hospital for the north-east is built. He says he is confident that a Fine Gael government can rebuild the Irish economy and bring about sustainable growth though economic and political reform. He has a Diploma in Management Accounting through the Certified Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) following studies at Dublin Institute of Technology and Dublin Business School. He is married to Laura English and has one son, Harvey. In 2010, he took part in his second Dublin City Marathon, representing the Navan-based charity SOSAD (Save Our Sons and Daughters) which aims at increasing awareness of suicide in Ireland.
