Outside The Box to open Navan Live 2011

Meath band Outside The Box, which recently represented County Meath in the IYMA's Irish Youth Music Awards and took home the trophy, have been asked to kick off the amazing weekend of music that is Navan Live on 15th September in Teach Na Teamhrach. Already confirmed headliners for the musical festival on 16th/17th September are UB40, Paul Brady, Declan O'Rourke and The Lost Brothers. Navan Live organisers Profile Music Group said: "We completely understand that events such as the IYMAs and any event where young underage bands can develope their talent is great, so it's only right that, for events on the scale of Navan Live, young up and coming bands get a fair shot at playing the big stages and gain as much experience as possible." Joy Booth, who is also a well-known artist around Meath, will also be organising a Ceol Na n"g evening for underage bands on Thursday 15th September at a venue yet to be confirmed. Outside The Box were born in typical rock 'n' roll fashion in the late summer of 2006 in a garage in Dunboyne. Since then, they have performed in Whelan's, Solstice in Navan and at many other events. In May 2010, they competed in 'Credit Unions Got Talent' which featured judges from RTE and TV3 and were delighted to come second as the standard was very high. They recently took part in the regional final of the Irish Youth Music Awards in Navan. It was a night filled with great talent and they were ecstatic when it was announced that they would be representing Meath in the finals at Liberty Hall, Dublin, on 15th May.
