Navan store staff robbed at knifepoint

Two knife-wielding thugs robbed the Windtown Centra store in Navan last Saturday night, 14th May. Navan Gardai are hunting the pair who walked into the shop at 10.08pm and, a minute later, walked out with cash from the tills. The men, who were armed with "large knives", threatened two female counter staff and demanded the contents of both tills. Thankfully, no-one was injured during the robbery but staff were said to be shaken by the experience. One of the culprits is described as being six feet tall, speaking with a Dublin accent, and wearing a long navy coat, blue jeans, dark shoes with a blue scarf concealing his face. His accomplice is being described as around 5'8" tall, wearing a red and orange hoody, dark bottoms, white runners and a black scarf over his face. The two, just a minute later at 10.09pm, walked out of the Centra store and turned right towards the car park with what is thought to be a few hundred euro in cash. The Garda Air Support Unit assisted local officers in the subsequent search but the men remain at large. Gardai have interviewed witnesses and CCTV footage of the incident is being examined. Anyone who has any information on the raid is asked to contact Navan gardai on (046) 902 1445. Separately, but later that same night, at around 2.45am, local gardai arrested three Tallaght males in their early 20s who were stopped in the town and relieved of around €600 worth what is thought to be cocaine. They were taken to Navan Garda Station and court appearances are expected after the cocaine is tested.
