'Peter Pan' continues successful run in Summerhill

Trim Musical Society's hilarious pantomime 'Peter Pan' continues its run this weekend in Summerhill Community Centre, with four shows that are guaranteed to have the audience in stitches. Society PRO and 'Dame' Gareth Mahoney said that if the government wanted to save a million euro, they could do worse than tax the laughing, smiling, faces at the annual pantomime. Having just run for its first weekend in Summerhill Community Centre, reviews have been very positive with the enormous cast providing a brilliant traditional pantomime for all the family. The Sunday matinee is already sold out, so people are being urged to get their tickets fast for this weekend's forthcoming run. People might think they know the story of Peter, the boy who never grew up, but there is a lot more to this Trim take on things. Instead of a big sloppy dog for the Nana, there is a great panto dame with wonderful costumes and a comic put-down for anyone she can spy in the audience. Captain Hook and Peter Pan resume hostilities this weekend, and the pirates, lost boys, Indians, Tinkerbell and the Darling Children will all be there to lend a hand. The show has a wonderful Christmas feel so no matter how bad Wednesday's budget is, this will definitely get patrons in the Christmas spirit. This year, for the first time, Trim Musical Society was forced to hold its production outside the town due to the inadequate changing facilities for children at the usual venue, Trim Town Hall. Mr Mahoney said the reason for the move is that the changing facilities in the town hall were no longer suitable for the large number of children involved in this production. Over the past five years, the pantomine has grown hugely and while there were 18 children involved five years ago, there are now over 140 children participating. For health and safety reasons, the decision was taken to move the show to Summerhill. Shows take place at 8pm on Friday, 3pm and 8pm on Saturday and 3pm on Sunday in Summerhill Community Centre. Tickets are €12 for adults and €10 for children and OAPs, and are available by calling (086) 087 0713, at Summerhill Community Centre, or Pat O'Byrne's Man's Shop, Trim.
