Kentstown Rovers open their account
After an absence of five years from the Meath & District League Div 1, Kentstown Rovers earned their first points of the season with a hard-earned victory over OMP Utd in this high-scoring contest on Sunday. The home side led 2-1 at the break with Andy Lynch netting a memorable effort from the half-way line with the "keeper going down injured just as he was about to catch the ball. Derek Bowens also found the range with Stepehn Gavin replying for OMP. Gavin set up Joey Rogers for an OMP equaliser before Shaun Doyle and Joey Macken added more goals as Kentstown finished in style to maintain their unbeaten home record that extends for over two-and-a-half years. Navan Cosmos 8 Termonfeckin 1 Joe Martin helped himself to a hat-trick as Navan Cosmos notched up a big score over Termonfeckin on Sunday. Laurence Ivers scored twice with Barry Reilly, Stephen Ivers and Kevin Ivers also hitting the target. The game was effectively over at the break when Cosmos led 4-1. Best for the dominant Cosmos were Ivers, Keith Walsh, Ivan Reilly and Martin. DIVISION 2 Parkvilla 1 BMC United 1 There was little between the sides in this encounter on Thursday evening with the outcome hanging in the balance to the end as Parkvilla earned their second draw at home. BMC took the lead early on with Philip McGuinness finishing off a good move which involved Emmet Smith and Nicky Bruton. Parkvilla created chances with Michael Rogers, James Power and Kenny Gavin going close. Gavin eventually found the net from long range after good work by Colm Brady and Mark McCabe. Rory Devlin and McCabe were best in a much-improved display from the Navan side while Fiachra Sweeney, Thomas Ambroziak and McGuinness excelled for BMC. Electro opened the scoring after 15 minutes, but Skryne / Tara equalised on the stroke of half-time. A brace of goals from Jamie Jordan enabled them to push ahead and a well-taken Allan Carty score copperfastened their position of supremacy.
