More success for North Meath

After topping the league all season North Meath showed the approach needed to defeat Balbriggan in the McGee Cup final at Ashbourne on Wednesday of last week. Urged on by a large band of travelling supporters North Meath showed the invention needed to carve out scores and the defensive solidity to restrict Balbriggan to just six points. One of the heroes for North Meath was Conal Finn who slotted over two penalties in the opening half. He added another after the break and to complete a memorable afternoon for him and his club he rifled over a much celebrated drop goal. U-13 Navan 73 Gorey 0 The all-conquering Navan u-13s stayed on course for an unprecedented five titles when they defeated Gorey to win the Leinster Youths Cup final at Naas on Sunday. The u-13s have gained quite a reputation this year twice defeating Blackrock College. Navan were already well on the way to victory against Gorey at the break when they led 38-0 with three tries from Harry Hester, two tries and four conversions from Eamonn Sheridan and one Jeremy McKeever touchdown. In the second half further tries from Graham Nelson, Robert Bourke, Neil Kane, Hester and Sheridan added to four conversions from Sheridan and one from Graham Garland sealed the big win. The u-13s will play their outstanding NE League match in Mullingar on Wednesday and a win will help them collect an unprecedented fifth title this season.
