Trim fundraiser for local MS centre
The sun shone as members and friends of the North-East MS Therapy Centre and MS Meath branch gathered to mark the second World Multiple Sclerosis Day, with a coffee morning at the Porchfields, Trim, on Wednesday 26th May. An enjoyable time was had by all, although it was too breezy for Irish Balloon Flights to inflate their hot air balloons as planned. A surprise visitor, Mr Tayto added to the fun atmosphere of the morning. The North-East MS Centre in Trim has extended thanks to all their friends and supporters who made the morning an enjoyable occasion. The centre also extended a heartfelt thank you to the runners in the Women's Mini-Marathon and to all the people who sponsored its team of runners. "It is the monies raised at events like this that keeps our centre open. The mini-marathon is always an enjoyable day and, hopefully, that cherished medal will help erase the memory of the aches and pains of our 'mini olypians'," said Bernie McCabe of the Trim-based centre. South Meath Vintage Club and Castle Club will hold a vintage tractor rally this Sunday, 13th June, to raise funds for the MS centre. Registration starts at 11am and the rally will begin at 12 noon in Rathmolyon. This will be followed by ceol and craic in Harnan's Lounge and Bar, Rathmolyon, at 2.30pm with spot prizes, raffle and auction. There will be an opportunity to bid on Tony McCoy's 'britches' and Kenny Egan's boxing gloves, among other items. The North-East MS Therapy Centre opened in 1988 and provides invaluable services and therapies to MS sufferers in the region to help manage their condition. The centre is supported solely through fundraising and receives no Government funding. Those using the facilities in the centre can avail of physiotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO), nutritional advice, continence advice and professional counselling.
