Fantastic victory for Navan team

Navan side OMP Utd achieved a superb result when they advanced to the next round of the Leinster Junior Cup with a rousing victory over top Dublin side Leicester Celtic on Sunday. OMP Utd produced a great team performance to negotiate the substantial challenge of Damien Duff's former club. This was a cracking encounter with both sides playing brilliant football, but it was Andy Carney who struck the hammer blow for the home side with a wonderful goal in the closing stages. This was a very good all round team performance from the Meath men with Dave McElroy, John Rodgers and Kieran Tansey in outstanding form. Mark McCormack crossed for Donohoe to score his opener. The same player added a second after good work by Aaron Newman before the break. In the second-half David Conway netted a third before Donohoe added two more to complete a memorable display. McCormack and Stephen Farrell also went close in the closing stages. Clones scored in the dying seconds. Mark Gilsenan, Paul Campbell and Donoghue stood out for the winners. Subs - C Smyth for Ward, P Connors for Casey. _____________________________________________________________ DIVISION 2 BMC United 1, Kells/Blackwater 3 Two goals from Danny McGovern set Kells / Blackwater on the road to victory against BMC in this MDL Div 2 encounter on Sunday. Darragh Gogarty was also on the mark for the winners. The sides were scoreless at the break. Gogarty went closest for Kells / Blackwater in that opening half, but goalkeeper Liam Quail also had to make a superb save to prevent BMC from finding the net. The visitors took the lead when a long-range effort from McGovern flew into the net. Gogarty scored from a header before McGovern tagged on a third when he beat two defenders. Excellent for the winners were Eugene Beggy, Quail, Darren O'Rourke, Warren Feehan and McGovern. Celtic's lack of matches due to the inclement weather showed early on, but as the match progressed they came more into the game and they tested a resolute St Laurences defence. Kells Celtic upped the tempo in the second-half and were unlucky when Niall Smith and Gary Arkins both missed from close range. Best for Kells were Martin Barrett, Barry Tormay, Declan Smith, Eoin McNamara.
