Knightsbrook crowned kings of the round table
Knightsbrook were crowned Meath & District League Div 4 champions on Sunday after a resounding victory over Virginia at the MDL grounds. The win capped off a memorable season for the Trim men who also reached the semi-finals of the MDL cup before losing out to Glenmuir. The winners made a lightning start and were four goals to the good at half-time after Eddie Murray notched a brace with James Moynihan and James Curran also on target. Virginia stemmed the tide somewhat after the resumption but Anthony Craig still managed to net a fifth to complete the rout for the Meath side. Best for the new MDL Div 4 champions were Craig, Murray and Darren Blaney. The visitors" early lead was cancelled out by Brian Faulkner before Martin Tevlin had Fordrew ahead at the break. The Cavan side equalised after the interval to leave the match in the balance. Fitzsimons Cup Parkvilla 3 St Laurence"s Gate 1 After extra-time Parkvilla"s second string reached the Fitzsimons Cup final after a hard fought victory over Louth visitors St Laurence"s Gate at Claremont Stadium on Sunday. Extra-time was needed to separate the sides after John Power replied to the visitors early strike. Parkvilla were dominant in the additional period and Power added a second before a late strike from David Dunne sealed the victory for the Navan men.
