Athboy student"s artwork fronts TV campaign

A painting by 12-year-old Meath student Keelynn O"Connor from Hill of Ward, Athboy, is set to delight television audiences across Ireland over the coming weeks. The untitled painting, depicting an Irish dancer which she entered for the Texaco Children"s Art Competition last year, is one of three art pieces chosen to illustrate a 30-second television campaign being aired to inform teachers and students about this year"s competition. Now attending Athboy Community School, she was a student at O"Growney National School in the town when she entered the competition. Now in its 55th year, the Texaco Children"s Art Competition is the longest-running event in the history of art sponsorship. The closing date for entries this year is Friday 27th February. Judging begins in March and results will be announced in April. The presentation of prizes will take place in Dublin in May.
