Cosmos remain on top

Navan Cosmos maintained their position at the top of the Meath and District League Div 1 when they defeated visitors Cavan Town at the MDL on Sunday. Joe Martin gave Cosmos an early lead before Cavan hit back with an excellent 30-yard strike. The home side were dominating play though and Ivan Reilly had them ahead again before half-time when he headed in a Lawrence Ivers cross. Both sides created chances in the second-half but neither could add to the scoring. The home side scored before Brennan"s first had the sides level at the break. Termonfeckin against went ahead, but Brennan equalised from the spot again with 10 minutes remaining. The visitors put on an excellent first-half display and led 2-0 at half-time. Things didn"t get any better for the home side in the second-half as Kentstown added three more goals with just a Brian Hanlon strike in reply for Kells/Blackwater. Robinstown 0 Torro 2 Robinstown"s unbeaten run of four matches came to an end on Sunday at the hands of Torro. The visitors went ahead midway through the first-half when Torro scored from a rebound after David Jennings had saved a penalty. Robinstown threatened on several occasions from Paul Bartley and Paul Curtin and even hit the woodwork through Joseph Farrell, but the visitors doubled their advantage early in the second-half.
