Conroy strikes gold
Johnstown became the first club to win a Meath & District League title this season when they won the Premier C Reserve title with a narrow victory over BMC on Saturday. The decisive goal was scored with time almost up when Jack Conroy took a pass from Davy Reilly before firing a spectacular shot to the net from long range. There was little between the sides throughout, but Conroy"s spectacular finish proved enough to clinch the title for Johnstown with one game to go. Others who went close for Johnstown included Conor Maguire, Derek Killian, Darren Killian, John Smith, Darren Gaughan and Ross Englishby. This was the perfect way to end a memorable campaign for experienced manager Ben McLarney, assistant Pat Hegarty and the players. This game was another example of a fine, overall team display from the triumphant Johnstown side.
