Kells No Name Club celebrates year of achievements

Kells No Name Club recently held an end of year party in the Kells Resource Centre, which was a celebration of all that was achieved by club members and volunteers alike during the year. Club chairperson Kelly Madine was the chief organiser and the theme chosen by club members was 'beach party' and there was a disco and a non-alcoholic cocktail bar. A local barman and volunteer, Timmy Cooke, made the cocktails, gave tips on how to make a good non-alcoholic cocktail at home and let club members create their own signature cocktail. An awards ceremony also took place at the party. Certificates were presented by Kelly Madine and co-founder and PRO of the club, Cllr Sarah Reilly. All club members were awarded a certificate designed and chosen by fellow members. The awards included Chloe Carr for most involved hostess, Nadine Brennan for best 'high five', Ciaran Flynn for fluffiest hair, Barry Cole for best hair colour, Jamie Whelan for best at making tea, Ciaran Daly for most polite host, Craig Curtis for funniest laugh, James Sheridan for best iPod player, Ross Coxon for best artist and Nicholas Fitzsimons for the clumsiest! Cllr Reilly said: "Members and volunteers alike definitely had great craic on the evening. "It was a brilliant ending to a great year of success for the club. The club volunteers must be commended for their work and commitment to the club, especially club chair, Madine Kelly." In September, club volunteers will be visiting local secondary schools to encourage more teenagers to get involved, she added. No Name Club is a national voluntary youth organisation founded in 1978 with clubs throughout the country. They were founded to provide an alternative to pub culture for young people in Ireland. There are more than 15,000 young people in No Name Clubs throughout the country.
