Athboy No Name Club"s recruitment drive for new members is taking place for teenagers aged between 15 and 19 years. The busy club recently attended the national awards ceremony and met founder and Kilkenny hurling legend Eddie Keher. The club"s mission statement is to promote a varied programme of activities to respect the dignity, value and uniqueness of all young people, supporting, advocating, and helping to safeguard their inalienable right to enjoy life, feel respected and to mature without a reliance on alcohol or other drugs. Entry forms for membership of the Athboy Club are available from the centre on Main Street, and are to be returned before Friday, 24th October, with interviews on 28th October. Membership is €2 per week. For adults who would like to be involved in this positive alternative to the norm and to create community awareness to the benefits which accrue from reduced dependence on alcohol or other drugs, the annual meeting of Athboy No Name Club will take place on Thursday 6th November at 8pm in the Old Darnley Lodge Hotel.
