Retribution for McEntee"s men
Donaghmore/Ashbourne reversed the SFC defeat they suffered at the hands of St Patrick"s just two weeks ago by comfortably defeating the Stamullen men in their A FL Div 1 encounter on Thursday evening. After an injury hit start to the season Donaghmore/Ashbourne were able to field close to their strongest team for the first time and it showed during an impressive opening period which they dominated despite falling behind to a third minute free. Eoin Carroll put Andy McEntee"s men in the driving seat with a rasping goal to boost his side to a 1-4 to 0-1 interval lead and matters didn"t improve for St Patrick"s after the break as they were restricted to just two points. Andrew Tormey and Eoin Reilly stretched Donaghmore/Ashbourne"s lead after the break and as St Patrick"s searched for a much-needed goal they were kept at bay by a solid rearguard action. This game was Donaghmore/Ashbourne"s second in succession where they held their opponents scoreless from play. Dunboyne trailed by 0-7 to 0-8 at the break and two Brian Ennis" frees stretched Summerhill"s lead after the resumption. However, O"Connor became more influential from midfield and Moran"s late goal put Dunboyne in the driving seat. DIV 2 St Michael"s 2-10 Carnaross 2-10 St Michael"s grabbed a last gasp goal from penalty to secure an A FL Div 2 draw against unlucky Carnaross on Tuesday of last week.
