Weekly display of Meath talent in Ratoath competition
'Meath"s Got Talent" in the Venue Theatre in Ratoath has the showbiz hopefuls of Meath competing for glory each Sunday evening at 7pm. The judges are Vera Wade, Grace Dunne and Ray Byrne, and round three of the heats were comnpleted recently. Some 23 acts competed to stay in the competition. Just fourteen were successful in progressing to the next round. Danielle Dunne (16) who dreams of a future as a solo singer enchanted the audience with a rendition of 'Breakaway". Lynette Moore, (17) who has four talent show wins under her belt, also performed her way into the next round. Miceala Murray (15) delighted the theatre with a Connie Francis hit. Eleven year old, Jasmine Confrey, wowed the crowd with a 'Grease" musical number. The next contestant to win the vote of the judges was seven year old Lauren Murtagh, singing 'Valerie", accompanied by her father on guitar. Jasmine Redmond was the only dancing competitor of the night who got the judging vote to stay in the show. Ciara O"Brien, Aludrey Mangan, Alannah Hewitt, Sally Byrne, Amy Campion, Josephine Reynolds, Emma Ryan and Ciara O"Leary all triumphed on the night. Singing Euretha Franklin"s, 'Natural Woman", Brid Gallagher (21) set a high standard on the night. The only band to successfully continue in the competition on the night, were the politically inspired group, The Sarcozyz. Jamie McGuire, Ciaran Sullivan, Jonathan McNamee and Owen McNamee hope to purchase new band equipment if they claim first prize. The winner will receive a cheque for €5,000. The overall prize fund is €8,000. Finals will be taking place on 4th January 2009.
