Cllr Shane Cassells congratulates the new Fianna Fail leader, Michael Martin, at last week's meeting of the party's national executive.

Real sense of renewal in Fianna Fail, claims Cassells

Fianna Fail Meath West candidate Shane Cassells has claimed there is now a sense of renewal among the membership of the party following the election of Micheál Martin as leader of FF last week. Cllr Cassells, who is a member of the FF National Executive and was present for the election of Micheál Martin as party leader, remarked on how quickly he set out his strategy for the election. “There was definitely a great buzz around Leinster House on Wednesday when Micheál Martin was elected leader and he got a great reception at the National Executive that night when he chaired his first meeting,†remarked Cllr Cassells. “He got straight down to business in laying out his strategy for the forthcoming election and there was certainly a renewed sense of purpose among members.†The Meath West candidate continued: “His immediate challenge to the other party leaders for a three-way debate on the issues indicates how anxious he is to expose the massive differences between Fine Gael and Labour on economic policies, while at the same time setting out the clear strategy Fianna Fail has for bringing stability back to this country.â€
