Meath exit Leinster JFC at first hurdle
There was a disappointing exit for Meath in the first round of the Leinster JFC at Ashbourne this evening when the hosts were well beaten by Kildare.
Kildare won the game by 10 points on a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-7 as each side found the net in the opening half.
Brian McMahon scored Meath's goal as the hosts trailed by 1-3 to 1-8 at the interval and lost further ground in the second-half as Kildare maintained the tempo for a merited victory.
Meath scorers: B McMahon 1-3; C O'Brien, N Shortall, B O'Brien, D Queeney 0-1 each.
Meath manager Damien Griffin was extremely disappointed with the result and was no doubt wondering what was the problem with Meath football after this result as the team had good preparations unlike other years when they were assembled at short notice.
