Torro edged out by OMP
This was top against bottom in the Meath & District League Div 1 and it was the less fancied side that emerged with the victory from what was a cracking local derby. Table-toppers Torro opened the scoring on 12 minutes with a Mark McKeever goal however OMP engineered a spirited response to lead 2-1 at the break with goals from Stephen Gavin, who converted a penalty after he was brought down, and John McCabe. OMP tagged on a third after the resumption with Mickey Brennan finding the net. Torro"s response was two goals from Colm Gilsenan both coming from Aidan McKeever crosses. There was further drama when Gavin and Matt Clarke combined to grab the winner to leave the OMP players jumping for joy at the end. Dave McElroy was outstanding for OMP. Termonfeckin had a player sent off in a poor opening half. Despite a man down Termonfeckin took the lead. Kentstown came storming back and snatched the equaliser when Simon Lynch despatched the ball to the net with a left-footed shot into the top corner. Derek Bowens went close with a late effort. PREMIER Duleek 2 Square 3 Despite scoring two goals Duleek lost out to Square in this Premier encounter at the Tollstone on Sunday. Duleek equalised when Chris Jein scored with Paddy Coates and Robbie Carr also involved in the move. Duleek were given a penalty after Noel Burke was fouled but Paul Martin"s spot-kick rebounded off the post. Derek Cummins added a late goal for Duleek but by then Square had scored a third. Trim Celtic 3 Glaslough Villa 0 Trim Celtic picked up their first victory of the season in the Premier on Sunday firing three goals past Glaslough Villa and giving themselves hope of drawing away from the bottom end of the table. It was looking good for the Trim side at the break when they led 2-0 with the help of an own goal when Paul Campbell scored from a super Paul Gilsenan header. It got better in the second-half when Alan Douglas finished for a third. Aaron Newman, Ross Campbell and Gilsenan went close to adding to Trim"s account.
