'The Big Interview With Mike Murphy' (RTE 1, Thursday, 10.15pm) - One of Ireland's most popular broadcasters returns to RTE's screens for a series of interviews. Over six programmes the legendary presenter will talk to a guest of his choice, each of whom has made a significant impact on Ireland and has reached the very pinnacle of their profession. Tonight's programme features Navan-born comedian Tommy Tiernan and Mike's upcoming guests in this series will also include Bertie Ahern, Moya Doherty, Marian Finucane, Barry McGuigan and David McWilliams. Expect insight and opinion from this sextet in conversation with one of the best broadcasters this country has ever produced. _____________________________________________________________ 'Hidden' (BBC 1, Thursday, 9pm) - Ronan Bennett's new drama marks a return for Philip Glenister, who stars in this taut four-part conspiracy thriller as a small-time solicitor who is forced to revisit his murky past and quickly finds himself caught up in a much more complex and deeper conspiracy. Approached by Gina Hawkes, a lawyer looking for a missing alibi witness for her client - the witness being an old acquaintance of his, the long-term criminal Joe Collins - the case reminds Harry of his own brief criminal past as a getaway driver for his older brother, a venture that ended with the death of his brother and their associate, Hillman, in a robbery that went horribly wrong. The guilt Harry feels from this incident drives him to uncover what went awry in a seemingly simple operation. His only lead is that he knows the killings were commissioned by a man named Styles. Tom Russell, the policeman who led the investigation all those years ago, is back on Harry's case, and with the past swiftly unravelling at every turn, Harry begins to question exactly who Gina is and why she chose him. ____________________________________________________________ 'Waterways' (RTE 1, Sunday, 8.30pm) - In this new series, Dick Warner returns to the inland waterways of Ireland, this time to the newly restored Royal Canal. He will be taking 'Rambler', an original 70ft Royal Canal tug barge built in 1878 from Dublin to Lough Ree. The last time 'Rambler' travelled the Royal Canal was 1923. On this epic journey, Dick meets both experts and ordinary people who live along the banks, learning from them about its heritage, history and wildlife. The series celebrates the final re-opening of the entire Royal Canal to navigation this year after more than half a century of dereliction. ____________________________________________________________ 'The Truth About Child Brides' (BBC 3, Monday, 9pm) - Nel Hedayat goes on a revealing journey to find out what life is really like for a child bride. Across the world, 10 million girls a year marry under the age of 18; that's one every three seconds. Travelling to India and Bangladesh, countries with two of the highest rates of child marriage in the world, Hedayat is no stranger to the idea of child marriage - her aunties and grandmothers were child brides - but what she sees challenges everything she thought. She attends the wedding of two sisters in Rajasthan - one barely in her teens and her even younger sibling. In Bangladesh, the programme meets a 14-year-old girl who was married last year to a 19-year-old man and is now four months pregnant. The film features child brides in Bangladesh who give birth before their bodies are fully developed and end up with a horrific medical condition that leaves them social outcasts. ___________________________________________________________ Movie Of The Week: 'Twilight' (RTE 1, Wednesday, 9.35pm) - Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson co-star in this hugely popular film adaptation of the equally mega-selling book. When 17-year-old Bella Swan is sent to live with her father, she falls for the intriguing Edward Cullen. Edward is nothing like any boy she's ever met - he's nothing like anyone she's ever met, period. He's intelligent and witty, and he seems to see straight into her soul. In no time at all, they are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance.
