Murtagh bids for fourth Derby success
Bohermeen jockey Johnny Murtagh will be bidding to win the Epson Derby for the fourth time on Saturday. Murtagh will ride the Aidan O'Brien-trained Jan Vermeer and will face 11 other runners after three were taken out on Thursday, St Nicholas Abbey, Cape Blanco and Bright Horizon, all trained at Ballydoyle. O'Brien will also have Midas Touch and At First Sight in the big race and Murtagh has chosen to ride the impressive Curragh winner of the Gallinule Stakes. "It's always a tough race with a lot of very good horses in it, but I'm very confident," commented the Meath man who won the race previously with Sinndar, High Chaparral and Motivator
