Shanahan"s lead role in Farrell film

Trim film maker Noel Farrell begins his latest shoot later this month, with Navan actor Gerry Shanahan in the lead role as Brian Ramsey, the head of a family who wins the lottery. Exploring the dark side of the Lotto win, 'I Wish" will also star Brian Fortune, Camille Donegan, and Julie Trappett as well as Trim man Mattie Scanlon. Brian Ramsey"s restaurant is facing closure and the bank won"t extend his overdraft. He wins the lottery, but does his life get any better? 'I Wish" was written and will be directed by Noel Farrell and begins a four-week shoot in Longford town on 17th July, with weekend and night time shoots. Navan actor Shanahan has been busy in recent times. He has been offered the role of Gentleman Joe in Brett Halliday"s feature 'Lost Causes" which will also star brothers Martin Kemp, who played Steve Owen in 'Eastenders" and Gary Kemp, who starred with his brother in 'The Krays", the story of the notorious London gangsters. It is scheduled to start shooting in January 2010. The film 'Maggots and Men", that he played the lead in, has been picked up by RTE and will be screened in the autumn. It is a story about the lengths a man will go to keep his land. Shanahan recently completed a new movie written and directed by Frank Kelly from Drogheda called 'Slan agus Beannacht", and 'Maru", a crime drama for TG4 produced by Stirling Film and Television Productions. He has also completed shooting a movie called 'Three Bags Full". October of this year will see the release of 'Cracks", which was filmed in Headfort School in Kells last year. Gerry Shanahan plays one of the few male roles in the movie set in a 1935 girls" boarding school, following one student"s unhealthy bond with her teacher 'Miss G". When the arrival of an exotic and beautiful foreign student threatens the status quo, there are tragic consequences for them all. Jordan Scott"s directional debut also stars Casino Royale star Eva Green, Juno Temple of 'Atonement", Imogen Poots, star of '28 Weeks Later" and Maria Valverde ('La Flaqueza del Bolchevique"). The director, Jordan Scott is the daughter of producer/director Ridley Scott, executive producer of 'Cracks". The film shot in Ireland for seven weeks, on location in Dublin, Wicklow and Meath, followed by two days in the UK"s Pinewood Studios. Two 13 year-old Irish girls, Adele McCann and Zoe Carroll, make their acting debuts in the feature, and Shanahan is a coroner, and played opposite Sinead Cusack of the famed acting dynasty in most of his scenes.
