Car parking for Trim cemetery prayers

Arrangements have been put in place to allow cars park at the new Trim GAA Centre and the Aura Leisure Centre for cemetery devotions which take place in Trim this coming Sunday, 12th July, at 7pm. Trim Town Council cathaoirleach Ray Butler said he contacted Sean Gilsenan of Trim GAA Club who gave permission for members of the public to use the car park at the centre. He said he also contacted Adrian Harrison, manager of the Aura Leisure Centre, who also gave permission to use their car park. Cllr Butler said the Aura car park would normally close at 7pm but they had agreed to keep it open until 8.30pm on Sunday evening. Those who would be returning after 8.30pm can collect their cars the following morning. Cllr Butler said he also contacted the local Gardai who will have a presence at the traffic lights at the Emmet Street/Patrick Street junction on Sunday evening and said there will be cones preventing cars from parking on one side of the road as far as the graveyard and on the opposite side of the road after the cemetery past the GAA centre. 'Cars were parking on both sides of the road for years and it was crazy. One year, an ambulance had a terrible job to try to get through. I am urging people to use the parking facilities for their own safety and the safety of other people,' said Cllr Butler.
