Lots of young talent on stage in Kells
There will be plenty of talent on display in Kells Theatre School's ninth annual production this coming Sunday, which will feature over 60 children from Kells and the surrounding areas. Artistic director John Grant says all the students have worked very hard over the year and deserve great supportive attendances at the two shows at 3pm and 8pm on Sunday. The show will feature the mini-musicals Rockin Monsters, Red Riding Hood and Noah's Ark, along with singing and dancing to hit songs such as The Monster Mash, Ghost Busters. Thriller and a medley from the movies. The children, aged from seven to 14 years, have been busy in their weekly workshops of drama, dance, singing, and creative storytelling since last October and now their great moment has arrived when they display their talents on stage. Another feature of the school is the publication of a book of stories written by the students. This concept has generated great enthusiasm among the children and they have been very creative in their writing, added Gaye Grant, who was in charge of this project. The students will receive their certificates of completion at the 8pm performance. Brian O'Neill will provide the lighting for the show, while Linda Sheridan is responsible for the costumes and Kathleen McGovern has prepared the songs, while Helena Sheridan is the choreographer. Aaron Byrne will keep the show moving with all the effects and Gary Byrne is on sound. Admission to the shows is €8 for adults and €5 for children.
